Welcome to Central United Church

Thank you for visiting our site, through which we hope you get a sense of our faith community. Nestled in the heart of historic Unionville, our mission is to connect our congregation and community to grow through worship, friendship and  Christ.

Central United Church is the church for you because we ....

  • have an open heart and an open door.
  • recognize the spiritual yearnings felt in today's society.
  • seek to offer uplifting worship and faith building Biblical study.
  • recognize the need to care about the world in which we live.

We also recognize that participation in a church is a new or unfamiliar experience for many people and we welcome the opportunity to be supportive to them. To find out more about what Central United has to offer you, please give us a call or come visit us; you are always welcome.

“A Chariot Ride and The Good News About Jesus"

Rev. Dr. James Clubine

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Scripture Reading:
Acts 8:26-40

Sermon Text: Acts 8:35
Then Philip began to speak, and starting with this scripture, he proclaimed to him the good news about Jesus

Sermon Focus:
Is the good news of Jesus really for everyone?  We have observed from the progress of the gospel in the book of Acts across the boundaries that divide peoples that the love of God is not subject to any of these restricting borders.  This same progress of the gospel witnesses that the good news of Jesus really is for everyone; it was for the Roman centurion, the Samaritans, and also for this Ethiopian eunuch.  When the eunuch asked if there was anything that could prevent him from being baptized—anything that could prevent him from identifying with Jesus Christ—the clear answer was that nothing about who he is prevents it.
