Youth

Youth in Action

Central's Youth are very important to us and we endeavour to support them through a Sunday School program, weekly activities and special events.   Traditionally, our youth have particpated in the 30 Hour Famine for World Vision every year and have attended the very popular Youth Event services in Hamilton, Ontario at Christmas time and on Good Friday.  We end the school year with a trip to Mt. Union, Pennsylvania for the annual Creation festival at the Agape Campground.  This Christian music festival is a great opportunity for our youth to live in community and experience their faith with a crowd of 50,000 others from across North America.

CUC YOUTH GROUP meets on Sunday afternoon/evenings during the school year at the church. This group is open to youth in Grades 7 to 12.  Join us for fun, friendship and faith.

Teen Confirmation Classes

Teen confirmation classes are held during the school year and will begin in the Fall of each year. This membership class is open to students in Grade 8 and up. Please contact Karl Burden for details.

Rotational Sunday School

Sunday School is FUN! We are very enthusiastic about our Sunday School here at Central United.   We love bringing the word of God into the lives of children with an exciting and varied approach to learning biblical truths and how to apply them to young lives.

We appreciate that everyone has an individual style of learning.  With the guidance of shepherding teachers and workshop leaders, the children are led through a unit rotation enhanced through drama, music, cooking, the arts, and computers.  Sunday School has never been so much a place to be!

We value children and believe that each child deserves to connect with Jesus’ love.  Our Sunday School starts in the nursery!  Rest assured your child will be kept happy and safe.  Should we need to reach you in the sanctuary, you can be discreetly paged with our nursery pager system.  Additional activities for youth enhance our elementary and high school Sunday programs – Junior Youth Choir, instrumental music, weekly youth groups (grades 7/8 and high school), retreats, sports, food, video presentations, and World Vision’s 30-hour famine to name just a few.  Kids learn by doing.  They are encouraged to take leadership roles whenever possible.  Participation in intergenerational projects organized by the Church encourages youth to become involved in outreach throughout our community and the world around us.

Weekly Devotion

On Paul’s Companions

September 5, 2010

Scripture reading:  Colossians 4:2-18

Sermon text:  Colossians 4:7-9

7 Tychicus will tell you all the news about me; he is a beloved brother, a faithful minister, and a fellow-servant* in the Lord. 8I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know how we are* and that he may encourage your hearts; 9he is coming with Onesimus, the faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you about everything here.

Most people value friendships.  In this message we reflect on Paul’s companions in the gospel and that friendships are not only good for achieving goals but that Christ has made Christian fellowship essential for salvation.
